Large Donations

Annousakis Georgios

The Annousakeio Institution’s first and greatest donor from Mesogia Kissamos, but who lived in Sprigx – Filat, United States of America. At the encouragement of the former Metropolitan of Kissamos and Selinos Eirinaios Galanakis, he provided the initial capital of  $ 50,000  for the erection of the building of a small Institution to accommodate 20 elderly grandmothers. Part of this amount was deposited at the bank and its interest was allocated to the Foundation’s maintenance in the early years of operation. Despite the fact that he lived in America, his offer to his birthplace sparked the creation of a jewel of social development and progress. In his honor, the Organization was named Annousakeio and a basic requirement in the constitution at the founding of the Foundation in 1976, was the participation in the administration of a person from the donor’s family.

General Venizelos and Eleni Skalidis

The donation of the retired lieutenant general, Venizelos Skalidis, from  Kefali of the Nine Villages in the District of Kissamos, was very generous. In 2008, he filed a financial donation for the creation of a luxury wing of apartments, on the 1st floor of the Foundation, which has been the Center’s Rehabilitation Health Care Unit since August 2013. This donation is in memory of his parents: Georgios and Maria Skalidi and his brother and sister: Polyxenis and Elena Skalidi.

 

Panagiota Faldami

Mrs Faldami made a significant donation in 2012, in memory of her husband, Stylianos Faldamis, for the reformation of the Foundation’s first wing. The aim was to create a closed care structure for 39 patients, suffering from Alzheimer and other types of senile dementia. The space was designed according to modern standards of care, to meet the current requirements for safe living. High quality home and medical equipment was used. At the same time, she offered the money to buy a seven-seat vehicle for the transport of workers of the home care service in Kissamos. Finally, she donated a vehicle specifically designed for the transport of wheelchair bound patients in order to maintain their links with the community.

 

CHARITABLE Foundation “TIMA”

In 2014, the “TIMA” Charitable Foundation approved the Annousakeio Institution’s request for the purchase of a modern ambulance costing 90,000 Euros for the safe transfer of the patients of the Foundation to and from the General Hospital of Chania. Within the framework of its mission, the service of emergency and planned journeys from the surrounding area is also included. In December 2015, “TIMA” approved the purchase of a computer with a special program of cognitive exercises, called Sociable, in order to strengthen the intellectual functioning of the elderly.

 

Stavros  Niarchos  Foundation

In 2014 the Stavros Niarchos Foundation approved funding for the implementation of a project titled: Reformation of the Institution’s Physiotherapy Facility, with Swimming Pool Construction and the Supply of Medical Equipment. The purpose of the donation, amounting to 200.000 Euros, is the modernization of the physiotherapy department according to the modern standards of Medical and Physical Rehabilitation.

Great Monastery of Vatopedi

In 2014, in the context of the Institution’s broader social role, the Great Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, donated a modern Mobile Medical Unit to enable Annousakeio Therapeutic Centre to meet the medical needs of the catchment area, including health prevention and education. This is an important donation that will open new paths of medical and social provision mainly in remote rural areas.

Donors of rural property

Konstantinos  Diamanakis, Stephanos Baxevanis, Aikaterini Paraskaki and Giorgos Katzourakis have helped grow the tree of volunteering and offerings through their donations for humanitarian purposes.
Sultana Zarifi, who lived in the last years of her life at the Annousakeio Foundation, donated an apartment in Athens for the benefit of those who represent the Organization to the political and economic authorities in the capital.
