The medical and nursing team of the Annousakeio Therapeutic Centre is constituted by the Scientific Director (Doctor), the Head of the Nurses and twelve Nurses. Collaboration with doctors of various specialities such as Cardiologist, Psychiatrist, Orthopaedic doctor etc. provides complete care.

The Medical Service of the Therapeutic Centre aims at:

  • The provision of a safe therapeutic environment,
  • Appropriate scientific care,
  • Prevention and restriction of the repercussions of chronic illness,
  • Support for patients that are in stressful situation,
  • Respect for the patient’s personality,
  • Encouragement,
  • Health education for the elderly.

All above are essential for the improvement of the quality of life.

The steps that the Medical and Nursing team follow are:

1. Medical observation by the Scientific Director which is essential to effectively deal with each situation,

2. Dispatch of medication,

3. Daily check-up of arterial pressure, body temperature, saturation of oxygen and blood levels, where needed,

4. Periodical and radiology testing,

5. Regular cardiologic examination with electrocardiogram and heart ultrasound. Cardiologic problems are monitored and regulated in collaboration with the cardiologist,

6. Psychiatric monitoring for those in need of this type of care,

7. Collaboration with orthopaedist for open lesions that require surgical care (bedsores- injuries), as well as for treatment and follow-up and care for fractures.

8. Preventive flu vaccination of all residents and  vaccination for all those who are in the high risk category, such as those who are suffering from heart and chronic respiratory problems.

9. Mobilisation of the patients under the supervision of the physiotherapist and through a complete work and physiotherapy program for people with physical disabilities.

10. Collaboration with the ward assistants who care for the individual hygiene of our guests, who also make sure that the rooms are clean and well-aired.

11. Collaboration with other Nursing Institutions and Health Services such as the General Hospital of Chania where our guests are referred to when their condition requires it.

12. Participating in training seminars scheduled by the AnnousakeioTherapeutic Centre and other institutions.

13. Annual participation in the “Leonardo Da Vinci” apprenticeship program, in which students from Norway and Sweden gain working experience, as adapted to Greek culture, in the nursing field.

14. The Annousakeio nursing personnel participates in annual summer weekly excursions and week long camps organized for the entertainment of its elderly, in order to provide them with the care they made need.
