The Annousakeio Therapeutic Centre’s Home Care team of Kisamos was founded by the
Ministry of Health (Registry number 4ΠΒ/1685) with the collaboration of
the Holy Metropolis of Kisamos and Selino.
The Home Care team aims:
To support the family,
so as to be able to keep the older and disabled members near them.
To support these
individuals, so as to be able to remain in their natural environment for
as long as possible.
To
try to improve these individuals’ quality of life, make use of their
skills and create the basis for respectable living conditions.
The Home Care team targets:
Elderly people who are alone and unable to care
for themselves because of permanent or temporary health problems.
Individuals that require special care because of
permanent or temporary illnesses.
People with special needs or families that face
serious social problems.
Today, the Home Care service of Kisamos helps
approximately 120 families that live in the municipalities of Kisamos,
Kolimvari, Voukolies and but this number increases and decreases according to
the needs of the area at any particular time.
Personal hygiene, cleaning of residence, washing
clothes, daily needs (shopping, paying bills, distributing food, etc.),
Distribution of food to persons that are
unable temporary or permanent health problems or financial
difficulties),
Transportation to Health Services, (Hospital,
Medical Offices, etc.),
Collaboration with other Social Services in order
to ensure enough support to those who need it,
Emotional support to help these individuals cope
with the difficulties of their life with courage and dignity,
Rehabilitation and promotion of good relations in
order to ensure that the individuals live in a calm and warm environment,
Repair and maintenance of residence appliances in
so that they have acceptable basic living conditions (in collaboration
with the relevant service agents),
Collaboration with the local government, the
local services and the parishes.
Development of entertainment initiatives and
activities.
Other services: Flu vaccination for the sensitive
population, Informing, sensitizing and educating the community regarding
health, social and cultural issues.
The Home Care
Service of Kisamos provides support and hope to many of our
neighbours.
In order to be able to achieve its aims and
provide the maximum care, it is must be embraced and supported by each of us.
Particularly, the support offered to the Home Care team by volunteering is
considered important and essential for the achievement of the programme’s aims.
