“We are glad to remember yesterday… to go back to moments full of youth, strength and beauty, and tell today’s youth about all the things we loved, those simple, everyday things… of another time, our time”.

“And we do this through a journalistic step that is given to us so that our voice may be heard…a voice that can speak, resist, propose, compare, and above all express everyone and everything”.

“It is our undeniable right to show the flow of history and through this to make you understand and respect us…We don’t ask for your pity, we simply hope you will hear us…”

These are the words of our elderly about all the things they feel, through which the magazine’s editorial team unfolds the thread of life and combines the dream with reality. It’s about the bimonthly magazine Apokoumpi as they call it, that talks about our traditions and the history of our region. It refers to everything that connects us with the past, to the continuous passing of the torch from one generation to the next.

Since September of 1991 Apokoumpi is distributed free of charge to friends and institutions of the region. Its aim is for the Annousakeio Therapeutic Centre to constitute an integral part of the community by informing the public of its social activities and by publicizing the voice of the elderly.

"As long as we have a voice we will speak, about everything we have experienced and are experiencing as members of this society, with the right to participate in every aspect of society”.
